These machines are mostly found in any Ear, Nose, Throat department (ENT) of hospitals. This machine has both hardware and software mechanism for checking hearing performance of a person. In hardware mechanism, it has a pair of headphones connected to a device which has meter on it to judge the results.

While examining the performance, result shown in numbers was decoded by the specialist in words because he knows what number depict what. Later, came the version of them which had software mechanism to evaluate the problems related to impaired hearing.


The third type is the simple type and is mostly found in small health care units. It consists of a meter attached to a pair of headphones. The results are afterward shown on the meter in numbers. The standard of calibration makes the results more accurate and reliable.

These are also accessible on a handheld device driven by windows. The special clinical computer based meters are usually more expensive than the other audiometers. These are used by professionals in research, audiology and ENT centres.

Audiometers have been benefiting mankind from years and years proving itself the helpful invention for the patients of impaired hearing. Now it is on people to take benefit from such valuable inventions.
